I hope you enjoy my Spanish learning site. I've built this for teachers and students alike. When I started this website, I was an old school grammar teacher teaching grammar and vocabulary explicitly. In other words, I was teaching students about the Spanish language and not how to communicate in Spanish. But I knew that I wanted my students to use the language in the classroom and I was introduced to the idea of flipping my classroom. Flipping a classroom means that students get the lecture part of the class through videos and other presentations outside the class as homework so that they can be more hands on and project based in the classroom. I loved the idea so much that I created about 50 grammar videos for my students to watch so that we didn't have to spend so much time on grammar in the classroom. Those videos are all still here, and if you like learning Spanish grammar, you are welcome to view them. I also created infographics and virtual flashcards for my students and those are also found on the site as well.
In 2012, I worked at a Spanish immersion camp for high school students and was introduced to comprehensible input (CI) as a means of teaching Spanish. Later, I was introduced to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL) 6 Core Practices. I've tried to make CI and the core practices central to my teaching ever since. So, to this site I've added Spanish picture books I've written to help Spanish language learners develop their language skills. All of the Spanish picture books have an English version and a wordless version so that teachers of languages other than Spanish can customize them to their language. I also blog from this site for the World Language teacher world where I write about lessons and experiences I have in the classroom. You can also find my conference presentations here as PDFs.
I hope you enjoy the site! All the materials I post here are free for you to use as long as you credit me.
